This coming Saturday, Oct 18th, come join us for Corner Brook's Brake's Cove Beach clean up! 10 am to 12 pm. Stop by any time.
It's nearing the 1 year anniversary of opening Waterside's (Brake's Cove) portal.
We are growing an intimacy with Waterside, visiting often... weaving ourselves into the layer of history that seeded togetherness and started to tend to Corner Brooks's beach.
Time to clean up :)
Hope to see you there, and if you can't make it, remember you can come by anytime to help keep this special place free of harmful debris.

Hike or bike the trail (Blue Beach Trail) 2.15km to the weaving site. This trail is unmarked but easy to follow. It is boggy with tall grass, water-proof footwear is recommended. Biking is possible on dry areas of the terrain. It is also possible to walk the rocky beach to the point.
We are gathering and building a peninsula portal, on lands of a storm-dominated shelf. Collisions of imminence and deep time. Old and new wounds and strata of lands & peoples rise out of the sea like pages to the sky. Limestone- keeper of time and Water’s clay; offers ancient ghosts to the kin of those who long to remember her. Shale- underfoot and exposed to the telling; breaking and re-shaping to the multitudes ofjunctures, fractures and watersheds.
This precipice calls on the hearts and voices of peoples who will offer care and protection to this peninsula. A call to denounce hopelessness in the face of authority & governance of Land & Water by corporations of extraction, governments of greed and exploitation, programmed consumption and polarized peoples.
We are gathering and weaving living fibers of stories that create societies of replenishments, revolution and reciprocity. Victorious stories about finding our way through the dense, impossible dark, terror; we are imagining what it will feel like when we see that light grow & grow and wrap itself into a world our children will finally step into.
These fossils that we gently stroke, as if our fingertips might remember the days we were held in the heart of the sea and then later sustained in limestone. The same stone, ocean’s floor, that was heaved from the once warm, calm, ocean of old, old Iapetus.
Just imagine... the necessary forces: the orogony, the falling away, the collisions, the inevitable, the impossible; all of which will entangle a network of people & care and carry them down brook, along river, amongst tides, in lake, a visit to old oceans and through a portal into the next verse (multi).
This is deep earth/time offering herself to you, are you brave and determined enough to accept the gift?
“Hope is connected to determination, and action..
The human race is at the mouth of a long dark tunnel and right at the end of that tunnel is a little star of light and that’s hope.” - Jane Goodall
